The Community Regeneration and Development Masterplan developed on behalf of Moffat and commissioned by Moffat and District Community Initiative provides:

• A framework for regeneration for a 10-year period.
A context that will facilitate an integrated approach to development over this period.

• An approach that balances the needs of both residents and businesses as well as the expectations of tourists.

• A forward-looking document that sets out how the current position can be shaped and developed to support the aspirations of the various stakeholders.

Developing the Tourism Offer

Early in 2008, Moffat became Scotland’s first ‘Walkers are Welcome’ designated town – an indication of the strength of support locally for developing the town’s tourism offer.

Moffat has also been designated an Outstanding Conservation Area in recognition of its architectural strengths, which include a building designed by John Adam.
