The Beautiful St Mary's Loch
St Mary's Loch

St Mary's Loch lies right in the heart of the Scottish Borders, easily accessible from Moffat yet with a feeling of remoteness. The Southern Upland Way passes Tibbie Shiels Inn at the southwest end of the loch before following the shore to Dryhope Bridge on the A708 Moffat to Selkirk Road.
Tibbie Shiels Inn provides a useful start point for walking and the routes provide many good views over the loch and hills beyond.
Whether in car, on cycle or on foot , a trip to St Mary's Loch will provide a great day out; by car a circuit back to Moffat is provided by turning onto the B past Megget & Talla Reservoirs to Tweedsmuir and then returning along the A701, perhaps taking time to stop at Tweeds Well, the source of the river Tweed, or pausing to savour the vista at the Devil's Beef Tub before returning to Moffat for a good meal and comfortable accommodation.
